How to comply with the Australian Building Code Requirements ?
Does your Body Corporate require strict Acoustic requirements for your apartment ?
How can you assess whether the hard floor surface you intend to lay will not cause a disturbance?
In Australia, Class 2, 3 and 9c Buildings Must Comply with the BCA Specifications for Sound Insulation Rating of Floors, for example: multi level buildings, high rises, 3 story walk-ups, backpackers, hostels, and aged care facilities, to name a few.
The Building Code of Australia (BCA) has a standard for impact noise transmission not greater than Ln,w = 62dB.
This is a measure of the noise produced by the hard floor surface. Therefore, the first thing you need do is to request written confirmation from the supplier (together with a copy of a Acoustic test certificate) confirming that your hard floor surface will meet that standard. At Acoustic Flooring we have the test certificates ready available for your perusal. Our flooring has been tested on different thickness concrete slabs, from 150mm to 200mm thicknesses.
